Before I bought this TV I had done a lot of research into affordable 4K TVs, and the best I could afford was a Hisense 55". But those models come with downgraded 4K technology such as 8-bit panels and no Dolby Vision built into it. When I cam across this 58" (which believe it or not is noticeably larger than a 55"), read through the specification, and noticed that it had HDR10 and Dolby Vision built into it, amongst other very decent specs, all at the same price as a very budget, low spec 4K TV, I bit the bullet and bought it on the spot before they ran out of stock! Set up was very easy, picture quality is what you would expect for a 4K TV, colour and definition of the picture is millions of miles better than my old HD TV. The menus are snappy, settings are straight forward. If you are not fixing this beauty to a wall, just make sure you have a TV stand wide enough for the screen to stand on as the feet are at the outer edges of the screen - roughly 110cm apart - rather than in the middle like some TVs. A 120cm wide stand would be a minimum for this. The only issue I am having is that I can't get the TV to connect to theon demand service "Freeview Play" servers via internet connection. All Freeview channels tune perfectly fine, but I just cant get access to the on demand which includes playback etc. There is probably a very easy fix for this somewhere, but I haven't had the time to look into it yet, and to be honest I only every watch TV on serves like Netflix and Prime Video so it's not that much of an issue for me! Also, if you have a 4K compatible device that you are connecting via HDMI such as a games console, you will need to find "sources" within the settings menu, choose the HDMI port it is connected to, and enable "enhanced" mode for that port, and then the TV will be able to receive 4K picture from that device :) Overall, I'm incredibly happy with my purchase. Why would anyone want to spend more on a TV that does exactly the same as this one for less?Read full review

Avoid. Spend that bit more and get a Samsung. This has to be the worst tv we've ever had. Our 11 year old samsung died and we needed a replacement. Like an idiot I ordered this. The picture and sound are terrible. Blacks are light grey and colours very dull and lifeless. Its also not very bright so I don't know how they get away with describing this as an HDR tv. Complete garbage. I'll be selling this on gumtree and spending a bit more for a Samsung again.

This is a decent TV for the money. I was very surprised. Only had it a few weeks and only time will tell how long it lasts. But overall great value and build. A lot of TV for the money and easy to use. It has Netflix, amazon prime and YouTube built in and is smart. Picture quality is great and sound is good compared to my old 9 year old LCD which is still going strong. I recommend this to anyone that is looking for a TV of this size at a budget as it’s decent.

I didnt think that Toshiba still made TV but they license their brand to a generic manufacturer such as Vestel or Beko in Turkey who makes the actual product. Vestel brands include Luxor, Polaroid, amongst many other supermarket brands. That is not to say the quality is poor, actually everything that I've bought which had a link to Turkey has been very very good, well thought of and built and lasted equally as long as an equivalent "Made in EU" or modern "Made in China". What I am against is the misleading of customers to make them think they are buying Japanese pedigree when they are not.

It's now 6 weeks of using this Toshiba 58" Smart TV, so it's about time for a review, it has replaced a 55" LG smart TV,. PRO'S - CHEAP for a 58" Smart., Easy to set up..... but... see CONS CON'S - Picture quality only average, pay the extra for better quality, wish I had. (BIG MISTAKE). Remote has frozen and refused to work at least twice, had turn off power at plug to get working. Had to call Toshiba customer services to get Engineer reset, after going into continuous loop on start up. solved the problem at the time, but the same problem has returned again. Problem with loosing sound when changing channels. Had to do full channel re-scan. Problem still keeps cropping up. OVERALL. This is the worst and most unreliable T.V. I've ever owned. pay the extra for a more known quality brand. I'll never touch any Toshiba products again.Read full review
